ANNA STEEN - President
Having taken on three different roles on the Footlights Committee in the last two years, Anna is absolutely delighted to spend her final year at university as President of the society she adores. Throughout her time in Footlights, she has been in two Showchoir Shows, and in the ensemble of 'Urinetown' and 'Fame'. Each show has brought her so much happiness, showing that Footlights is so much more than a musical theatre society - it is a warm, welcoming and lovely group of people who support one another whilst they grow as people and as performers. She could not be more excited to see what Footlights will achieve in its 30th year and beyond!
CONNIE MCFARLANE - Secretary
Connie is a second year music student and this is her second year in Footlights committee. She loved being Events manager last year and is now very excited to step up to the challenge of being Secretary! Her first Footlights show was the Fringe run of 'Sister Act' and then she was in FAME where she played the part of Mabel. She is so excited for the year ahead and can't wait to spend time with people who love Footlights just as much as her.
TREASURER - Brett McCarthy-Harrop
From 'Old Lady Nun' in Sister Act Fringe 2017 to 'Lambchops' in Fame 2018, Brett has loved every minute of her footlights career. She is very excited to be taking on the role of treasurer this coming year as a nice distraction from the last chapter of her Neuroscience degree. If you spot her in the library she welcomes hugs, reassurance, niche Billy Elliot banter and mutual crying sessions.
EVENTS MANAGER - Douglas Stephenson
Doug is a second year Biomedical scientist. He is so excited to be taking on his third year on committee having previously undertaken the roles of Cast Representative and Treasurer, and is now ready to continue this year as the Events Manager of Footlights. His journey began when he was cast as Officer lockstock in 'Urinetown'. He was also part of Footlights' first fringe show in 20 years 'Sister Act' and most recently, played 'Mr Myers' in FAME. He wants to give so much more to this society and is ready to be a part of something extraordinary once again!
SPONSORSHIP COORDINATOR - Adam Makepeace
As a biology student who has always let Footlights take priority over his degree, Adam is thrilled to be serving as Sponsorship coordinator on this year’s committee. Adam joined Footlights in 2015 when he was cast as Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls, and he has not missed a show since; taking on roles from serious acting student, to corny and dim witted gangster, to a downtrodden poor person fighting for the privilege to pee. Footlights has been a fantastic experience for Adam, and he is more than ready to help on the team that truly makes Footlights something extraordinary.
PATRONAGE COORDINATOR - Trevor Lin
Although his first show in first year was a musical about urination, that hasn't put him off coming back to be a dancer in Fame the Musical. Trevor is grateful to have had the privilege to work with some of the most talented and hardworking people ever, and he is so excited to see what the Footlights Family will bring next year. Trevor can't think of a better group of friends to spend his final year in Architecture with.
PUBLICITY MANAGER - Rachael Beaty
This is Rachael's final year in Footlights Committee, having previously served as Events Manager and President. In her time in Footlights, she has been in Showchoir, Urinetown as Little Sally and Fame in the Ensemble. Rachael is delighted to be spending her final year at university doing what she loves most, being in Footlights. She cannot wait for the new society year ahead and is so excited to welcome members, old and new, to our Footlights Family.
SOCIAL SECRETARY - Meg Edwards
Meg is a second year English Literature and History student, and she is thrilled to be joining the committee as social secretary. After an incredible year with Showchoir, she can't wait to devote even more time to Footlights, which has brought her so much joy and a bunch of talented friends. Meg very much looks forward to another brilliant and creative year.
ORDINARY MEMBER - James Hart
James is joining the Footlights committee in his final year as a linguistics student. Following an amazing 12 months during which he has produced Sister Act, Fame and American Idiot, he is beyond excited to see what the next year will bring! Footlights has filled James with more joy, laughter and fun than he thought possible and he feels incredibly lucky to continue to be a part of such an extraordinary group of people.
